Excursion: Wilder Kaiser

Climbing paradise & the mythical Wilder Kaiser - The crown of the Alps.

Do you know what makes the Wilder Kaiser so mythical? This mountain, which has made climbing history and spawned legendary mountaineers, is both awe-inspiring and inviting – offering protection on the one hand and demanding respect on the other. Famous names of mountains such as the Totenkirchl, Fleischbank and Predigtstuhl inspire respect and stir the ambition to face the physical challenge. 40 years ago, at the 2 June 1977, Helmut Kiene and Reinhard Karl made the breakthrough to the 7th difficulty level in crossing the Pumprisse route on the Fleischbank pillar in the Wilder Kaiser region.

In addition to the classic Alpine routes sports climbers, whether they be beginners or professionals, can practice in the climbing gardens. The rocks of the Wilder Kaiser will make all climbers’ hearts beat that much faster. On the practice climbing rocks in the Kaiserklettergarten climbing garden, beginners and children can try their first climbing moves on the rock.The Multerkarwand and Wilderer Kanzel climbing gardens offer a range of medium-difficulty tours. In contrast, the Achleiten and Schleierwasserfall climbing gardens, the latter one of the most beautiful climbing areas in Austria, are best known for their routes which pose a higher difficulty level.

Programme   Excursion to the Schleier Waterfall - the Mecca for extreme climbers: After we arrived at Going we will walk to the climbing garden Schleier Waterfall. Featuring over 200 routes, the Schleier Waterfall is not only one of the largest climbing areas in Tirol – it is also one of the areas with the highest number of difficult routes. Famous climbers such as Alexander Huber, Markus Bendler and Adam Ondra made a name for themselves here. Guido Unterwurzacher, the “Master of the Mountain” and an exceptionally talented local climber, will accompany the excursion, providing tips on the routes and discussing the myth of the climbing hotspot Wilder Kaiser region. 
Equipment  climbing equipment is provided on site by Black Diamond; please bring weatherproof clothing & good footwear
Catering   Tirolean snacks & drinks are included, possibly take something to drink with you 
Additional information   approach time from arrival point to Schleier Waterfall climbing garden is approx. one hour, largely on forest roads, forest paths and meadow paths
