Excursion: Wilder Kaiser
Climbing paradise & the mythical Wilder Kaiser - The crown of the Alps.
Do you know what makes the Wilder Kaiser so mythical? This mountain, which has made climbing history and spawned legendary mountaineers, is both awe-inspiring and inviting – offering protection on the one hand and demanding respect on the other. Famous names of mountains such as the Totenkirchl, Fleischbank and Predigtstuhl inspire respect and stir the ambition to face the physical challenge. 40 years ago, at the 2 June 1977, Helmut Kiene and Reinhard Karl made the breakthrough to the 7th difficulty level in crossing the Pumprisse route on the Fleischbank pillar in the Wilder Kaiser region.
In addition to the classic Alpine routes sports climbers, whether they be beginners or professionals, can practice in the climbing gardens. The rocks of the Wilder Kaiser will make all climbers’ hearts beat that much faster. On the practice climbing rocks in the Kaiserklettergarten climbing garden, beginners and children can try their first climbing moves on the rock. The Multerkarwand and Wilderer Kanzel climbing gardens offer a range of medium-difficulty tours. In contrast, the Achleiten and Schleierwasserfall climbing gardens, the latter one of the most beautiful climbing areas in Austria, are best known for their routes which pose a higher difficulty level.
