The new climbing center "Kletterzentrum Innsbruck" will open its doors in May 2017, and it will be among the world's largest and most modern climbing venues. The 12 million euro project was built over the last two years. It sets new standards in terms of size, quality, and architecture. The Kletterzentrum Innsbruck will break new ground when it comes to creating synergies between mass sports and competitive sports. For everyone, hobby- and professional climbers alike, there will be 5,700 m² of climbable surface: 3,000 m² for indoor lead climbing, 1,200 m² for bouldering and 1,500 m² for outdoor climbing.
The outdoor area of the climbing center offers walls for Lead, Bouldering, and Speed that are suitable for World Cups. The Youth World Championships will be the first test for this venue. There will be space for 3,000 spectators at once to watch the competitions, and - as usual for youth events - the entry will be free in all competitions and the framework programme.
